R.Aveen enjoyed her first Marquette Farmers Market. She was glad to be cosy inside with the cold temperatures. Light snow fell as she packed up afterwards.

R.Aveen was thrilled that Animal Listeners: The Awakening of Quinby Clark was chosen for the YA Book Club at Crystal Falls Library.
She loved attending their meeting and chatting with community members. R.Aveen gave a presentation, did a reading, and answered questions on the book and publishing process.​

R.Aveen was excited to attend her first GeekU.P. The mini-con had an artists' alley, vendors, cosplay, workshops, panels, and gaming tournaments.
R.Aveen sold Limited Edition, First Print Run paperback copies of Animal Listeners: The Awakening of Quinby Clark.

She joined other local artists, and local farmers selling fresh produce, with the spectacular Portage Canal as their backdrop.

Artists from far and wide presented paintings, jewellery, photography, ceramics, metal work, glass and more.

R.Aveen was at her Animal Listeners booth, listening to live music and enjoying the arty atmosphere.

​Humongous Fungus Festival
Crystal Falls, Michigan​
R.Aveen celebrated Crystal Falls' Armillaria gallica mushroom, at their Humongous Fungus Festival.
The organism covers at least 37 subterranean acres - with some estimates saying its underground mycelia is spread over 90 acres!
R.Aveen soaked up the fungal fun at her Animal Listeners booth in the Vendor Village.

Annual Author Fair

R.Aveen had fun at the Annual Author Fair at Negaunee Public Library, as part of their community's Pioneer Days celebration.
She enjoyed hanging out with other local authors, meeting members of the community, and the local media.

Bridgefest
Houghton, Michigan​
R.Aveen loved being part of this local annual event celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. Despite the cold weather, she had a great time meeting new people and enthusiastic readers.
R.Aveen was thrilled when both a 13-year-old boy and a 72-year-old woman dropped by separately to say she is one of their favourite authors!

It was awesome to finally meet the boy who, when 12, read the book in a day and a half, the fastest known time! His mother had come by a stall last year to say how much he loved it, but at Bridgefest he spotted the Animal Listeners stall and came to tell R.Aveen himself. She was SO happy!

Equinox Celebration
Facebook Live Event​
To celebrate this special day in the Animal Listener world, R.Aveen hosted her first Facebook Live Event. She read from Chapter 1 - the part where Quinby Awakens, then answered FAQs.
The table wobbled, the video dropped out a bit, and it took her a while to realise the video was live ... but she had a lot of fun!

Despite the last-minute date change due to a blizzard, R.Aveen had fun answering questions on writing, reading and self-publishing Young Adult novels, with two other local authors - Stephanie and Isaac Flint.
